Needham Campus / The Walker School

Residential Child Care Worker:

Summary: Participate as a member of a treatment team in Walker’s residential program to meet the social, recreational, behavioral, and educational needs of children exhibiting emotional and behavioral difficulties. Plan, implement, and participate in social and recreational activities for children. Provide a safe and therapeutic milieu that meets the physical and emotional needs of children. Implement treatment protocols established by a multi-disciplinary team. Attend to the administrative functions of child care, including attending treatment meetings, writing reports, and actively participating in supervision and professional development opportunities offered at Walker.

Positions available at a variety of professional levels; Flexible shifts are available, including awake overnight positions.

Compensation is commensurate with related experience and education.

Part-Time After-School Child Care Worker:

Summary: Work collaboratively with the after-school team to design and implement after-school programming that meets the social, recreational and behavioral needs of children exhibiting emotional and behavioral difficulties.  This individual will exhibit strong skills in activity planning and implementation, organization and communication.   Utilize behavior management and crisis intervention techniques as needed.

 Requirements:  Bachelors Degree. Must have at least six months experience working with children who have emotional and behavioral problems. Must be committed to family driven and culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Assistant Teacher I:

Summary: To team teach with a Head teacher in a self-contained classroom of eight to 11 children with emotional, learning, and behavioral disabilities; to provide educational services as directed by the Head teacher and the educational leadership team. This is a 12-month position that includes some holidays and school vacations. Must be committed to child centered, family focused culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Requirements: Bachelors Degree, Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education preferred. Valid Massachusetts drivers license and previous experience working with children in an education setting. Must be committed to family driven and culturally competent care and strength based treatment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

English Language Learning Specialist-Part Time:

Summary: To assure that Walker provide appropriate assessment, direct instruction, and support to English Language Learners and their families. To provide consultation to classroom teachers and other staff on best practice for English Language Learners. Must be committed to child centered, family focused culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Requirements: M.Ed. in special education with Massachusetts’s licensure as a teacher of special needs.

Vice President for Finance:

Summary: Senior administrative officer responsible for business and financial control of operations of Walker School as a whole; with the Senior Leadership Team responsible for providing support and consultation services to all Walker programs and subsidiaries. Committed to child centered, family focused culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Requirements: Degree in accounting, financial management or business administration. Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in progressively responsible senior financial administration. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to think and plan systemically; strong financial analytic ability; ability to manage multiple tasks; ability to collaborate and facilitate team decision making; ability to meeting deadlines and work under pressure; strong computer/financial software skills. Ability to direct staff to meet deadlines within an internal control environment.

Special Education Teacher:

Summary: Teach in a self-contained classroom of 8 to 11 children with emotional, learning, and behavioral disabilities. Develop and coordinate the academic, behavioral, and social curriculum in the classroom with the support of Educational Leadership Team. Supervise the assistant teachers of the classroom and lead the classroom team (two assistant teachers) in the overall functioning of the classroom. Write IEPs and reports, and present at student-focused meetings with the support of the classroom supervisor. Collaborate with multi-discplinary teams(clinicians, supervisors, specialists, residential team members) around programming for students. Must committed to child centered, family focused culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Requirements:Bachelors Degree with Massachusetts licensure in special education

Residential Milieu Supervisor :

Summary: Responsible for all aspects of the weekday residential milieu including, but not limited to, coordination of staffing patterns, crisis intervention, off campus activities, transportation needs, communication with both school, clinical department and administrator on-call. Work collaboratively with House Supervisors to provide consultation, support and training to direct care staff. Job requires constant communication with both the Staffing Coordinator and the After-School/Activities Supervisor. This individual will be responsible for decision making in crisis situations, constant multi-tasking and must have the ability to utilize behavior management and crisis intervention techniques as needed. Responsible for the oversight of all relief staff.

Requirements: Bachelors Degree in a related field. At least two years experience working with children with emotional, learning, and behavioral disabilities in a residential treatment center or special education school. After-School and Activities Supervisor :

Summary: Responsible for management of all aspects of the residential club program and after-school program including, but not limited to, design and implementation of activity programming, coordination of health/music curriculum, direct supervision of after-school staff, coordination with scheduling coordinator and milieu supervisor regarding staffing needs This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing activity curriculum for the therapeutic residential milieu and providing training and consultation to direct care staff. Responsible for all aspects of respite programming including, but not limited to, oversight of recreational programming, design of protocols/policies, supervision of staff, and communication with respite coordinator. Provide evening support to milieu supervisor. Utilize behavior management and crisis intervention as needed.

Requirements: Bachelors Degree in a related field. At least two years experience working with children with emotional, learning, and behavioral disabilities in a residential treatment center or special education school. Part-Time Registered Nurse:

  Summary: Walker is seeking a Part-Time Program Nurse that will be responsible for medication administration, routine and emergency services on our Needham Campus. This weekend position is 16-20 hours per week.

Educational Coordinator:

Summary: Work closely with the school leadership team to assure the safety and effectiveness of the Walker School Day program; provide leadership in the school program regarding all areas of curriculum and assessment, including both academic and recreational programming; assure the development and implementation of academic curriculum in accordance with state frameworks; oversee academic assessment for individual students, including statewide assessments (MCAS) and educational assessments, etc.; coordinate curriculum materials and supplies; assist in training school staff regarding issues of curriculum and program development; assist in teacher hiring, orientation, and professional development; work with school leadership team to develop calendar for school-wide events, special programs, and assemblies; work with other supervisors to ensure that the physical appearance of the school buildings reflects the values and programming of the school; work in close cooperation with the multidisciplinary team to ensure alignment and consistency in treatment and programming.

Requirements: Master's Degree with Massachusetts licensure in special education

Summary: Lead the development and implementation of Walker’s action plan to increase recruitment and retention activities as well as cultural competence at all levels of the organization. After School Kindergarten Teacher-MaryLyons School:

Summary:  Plan and implement academic, artistic, and sports activities for general and special education students. This is a full-time or part-time position that follows the school calendar.

Requirements: Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience with students who have emotional and/or behavioral issues Behavior management skills and experience in planning and running activities for children. Must be committed to family driven and culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Elementary Social Worker-Westminster MA:

Summary: The Clinician is responsible for providing therapeutic support to students and their families, providing case management services, and providing consultation to associated school personnel.Must be committed to family driven and culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Requirements: Masters Degree with a LICSW, Minimum of five years post graduate experience working with emotionally and behaviorally disordered youth. Preferred, prior experience working in a therapeutic milieu. Prior experience in parent support and treatment. Crisis intervention knowledge.

Therapeutic Intervention Specialist-Wareham, MA (West Academy):

Summary: The Therapeutic Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing therapeutic behavior management support for emotionally and behaviorally challenged students. This person will be a Walker employee, contracted to provide services in the public schools. Responsibilities include: crisis intervention; writing and implementing behavior plans; writing or contributing to the writing of FBA's; consultation with general education staff; providing student support during lunch, recess, transitions and academic periods; and working collaboratively with special education teacher and program assistants.

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree. Familiarity with positive, strengths based interventions, and previous experience working in a therapeutic milieu is essential. ABA training is beneficial but not required.

Beacon High School-Watertown:

Special Education Teacher:

Summary: To develop and implement course curricula particular to the assigned area of teaching. Must be committed to child centered, family focused culturally competent care and strength based treatment.

Requirements: Master's Degree and 3-5 years of experience working with High School students. DESE licensure in special education 9-12 required.  DESE licensure in History 9-12 strongly preferred.   Experience working with adolescents who have emotional and learning disabilities is also preferred.  Familiarity with positive, strengths based interventions, and previous experience working in a therapeutic milieu is essential. ABA training is beneficial but not required.
