Ways of Giving

Your gift to Walker can change life of a child, improve the future for a young student, and provide help and hope to struggling families.

You can make a gift to Walker in several ways:

Unrestricted gifts to the Walker annual fund put your donation to work immediately where the need is greatest. You may also designate your gift for a specific use, or pledge your gift over a period of years. If you are considering a making a restricted gift or a pledge, please contact the Walker Institutional Advancement office and we will be happy discuss projects at Walker in need of funding and help you to create a pledge payment schedule.

Cash contributions via credit card or check

Your gift to Walker may be charged with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. Donating on-line is an easy and secure way to put your gift to work immediately at Walker. If you prefer to donate via check, please make the check payable to Walker and mail it to: Walker, 1968 Central Avenue, Needham, MA 02492.

Gifts of stock or securities

Making a gift of securities (stocks, bonds, and mutual funds) to Walker can offer significant tax advantages for many donors. In most cases, you are eligible for an income tax deduction based on the full market value of the stock on the day that Walker receives it. You can also avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciated value of the stock if it is sold rather than transferred. Please consult with your broker or tax advisor for more information.

To make a gift of securities, call the Walker Institutional Advancement office to notify us of your intent. We can provide additional information and will work with your stock broker to assist with the transfer. To ensure you are properly credited and acknowledged for the gift, you or your broker should notify:

Please include: donor’s name, name of stock and number of shares given, date and approximate value of gift, and the fund to which the money is designated (e.g., annual fund, capital campaign) Walker will then issue instructions to our broker regarding the disposition of shares, and send you the information you need to receive proper tax credit.

Commemorative gifts

Make a special gift to Walker in honor or in memory of someone special in your life. You can also direct gifts to Walker in lieu of gifts, flowers, or wedding or party favors, and we will send notification of your generosity or provide special thank you notes for your friends and guests. 

Personal Fundraising Pages

Create your own First Giving fundrasing page and raise money for Walker! You can choose a fundraising goal, link to a Walker special event, and send e-mail to your family, friends, and co-workers to direct them to your personalized page. Matching gifts

Many companies will match contributions made by their employees. Check with your employer about a matching gift program and you may be able to double the leverage of your donation to Walker. Contact us to arrange to send us your company’s paperwork, we’ll do the rest.

Gifts In Kind

You may wish to help Walker by volunteering your time and expertise, or by donating work or materials for a project or an event. If you would like to donate a new or very gently used item to Walker, or if you or your employer can provide a valuable product or service to Walker pro bono, please contact us. If you make an in-kind donation, please be sure to fill out the In-Kind Donation Tax Receipt.

More Ways to Give

Visit the Walker Target Gift Registry and purchase something to be given as a holiday or birthday gift for a child at Walker, or an item for use in a Walker program.

Collect General Mills Box Tops For Education to benefit Walker. Clip box tops from your Kleenex, Ziplock, and General Mills products and mail them to Amy Perna, Walker, 1968 Central Avenue, Needham, MA 02492.
